‘Tis The Season to Get Competitive…

I can’t believe that it’s already here:  The CrossFit Games season!  For some of you veterans, we understand that you know how it works, but for many of you, this is all a new, unchartered territory.

Let me explain how it works…

EVERYONE can have a role in the CrossFit Games season.  It really doesn’t matter how new or old to CrossFit you may be.  The Game’s season takes place in three different stages of competition:

Stage 1:  The CrossFit Open.  This takes place over the course of 5 weeks.  You will perform five different WODs (one per week) at Shoreline CrossFit, being judged formally, adhering to movement standards and rep counts determined by CrossFit HQ.  You then post your score to your profile for all to view via Internet.  Then, you can see where you stack up against other athletes in your region (Northeast) and the world!

All of your scores contribute to the Shoreline CrossFit TEAM score weekly.  We will pull the top six scores from our athletes participating and this will be our team’s score.  Last year, SCF placed NUMBER ONE in the Northeast.  LET’S DO IT AGAIN! The more that participate, the more of a chance we have at collecting greater scores.  Never feel that you will “bring the team down”, for this is not possible; you can only HELP us if a WOD plays to your strength.

This Open is also the means of selecting our Master’s athletes who will go on to the worldwide Games!

Stage 2:  The top 48 athletes in the Northeast (male and female) go on to a Regional Qualifier, spanning 3 days in Canton, MA starting on May 17th.  The top 30 teams go on to this regional event as well.  SCF will be deciding it’s team based on performance during the Regional, year-long dedication to training, and personal strengths that can be added to the team.

Stage 3:  The CrossFit Games.  The top 3 athletes (male and female), and the top three teams go on to compete in the Reebok CrossFit Games in California in July.

Now, realistically, how many of us are going to make it to the Games?  Few.  But, how many of us should sign-up?

ALL

This is a GREAT opportunity to have a goal, step up your game, and see where you stack up against those with similar abilities.  The cost to sign-up is $20.00.  To do so, go to https://games.crossfit.com/competition

DON’T LET US DOWN…

LET THE GAMES BEGIN!!!

To kick-off this exciting season, more than THIRTY of our athletes are competing in a competition at CrossFit Triton in Wallingford this Saturday. The competition will be at CrossFit Triton, 101 North Plains Industrial Road, Building A, Suite 3, Wallingford, CT from 9:00am to 5:00pm.

Come and get in the spirit of the CrossFit Games!
