“Don’t it always seem to go, that you don’t know what you got ’till it’s gone“.
We all know the line. And boy, is it true…
I told Christina Quong tonight that I would pay five-hundred dollars to be able to power clean.
And I meant it.
Actually, I was watching people jerk thinking how amazing it would feel to stomp my feet on the floor underneath that weight.
My forte in CrossFit has never been the heavy stuff…Light, long, cardiovascular intensive WODs are where I shine. Yet, I’d kill to throw some heavy weight around these days.
Why?
Because I can’t.
Due to my back injury, I haven’t been able to pick up more than 55 lbs in three weeks. I never thought the day would come when I’d want to jerk. Heck, I’d even snatch heavy right now if I could…
We always need these reminders. They’re good for us. The next time you are doing something you “hate”, be grateful that you can do it.
And so do it hard...
Awww…Janie, thanks. I don’t want anyone to think that my intention in writing this blog was to gain sympathy, however. I WILL get better. My goal was to get people (myself included) to focus on how fortunate we are to be able to do what we do and not take it for granted. So, if you hate running, be glad you legs are working and that you can do it. Imagine if that was gone? It’s something that I will certainly use as a motivator when I’m back at it!
Nevertheless, thanks for your kind words. xoxoxox
Thus the perpetuating this universal truth that there has never been a flattering crossfit related picture taken of me.
For those who are injury free: REJOICE in your abiltiy to move your body when, where and how you want as I am envious. CELEBRATE your body for you can run, burpee, lift, clean and dead until you puke, so lucky. For those of us with injuries, we will continue to modify, fight and heal until we can again join you in the RX world of woding. I’m.sorry Lauren
You’re strength is impeccable, and you are a phenomenal athlete and coach. I believe I speak for most, when I say you are truly an inspiration! Unfortunately I can relate with the back.injury, but because of SCF & its coaches, I am stronger and leaner each week! Rest, Chiro and lighter weights will get you back. You’re still the strongest woman I know! A great leader as well
