| “’I can therefore I do’ is my mantra. It may not be pretty and it may be modified but, I CAN so I DO and I LOVE it” |
A few days ago, I posted regarding the importance of having a mantra when it comes to CrossFit. Above is Tricia Anderson’s response.
Most of you know Tricia for her positive spirit and commitment to getting in the best shape possible in her 50′s.
This mantra has resonated with me since she posted it to the blog.
Tricia has had a few nagging injuries; most of which have caused her to have to modify most workouts. Rather than have the old, “because I modify it doesn’t count” attitude, she realizes that what she can do is quite productive, and that she should be grateful that she can do anything at all.
I’ve been getting quite negative the past few days. Shoulder injury to back injury, blah, blah, blah–it really doesn’t matter because at the end of the day Tricia has a point…
No, this isn’t the ideal time to have an injury, but it is better than the first week of the Open or the second day of the Regional Qualifier.
And you know what? I can still row. And run. And perform most bodyweight movements. So, why not do them? And do them proudly. Because I can. And because there are many people who are not as fortunate as I am to be able to do them.
So DO it. And LOVE it.
aww, thanks babe
Thanks so much LP for the encouraging words! I am just reading this now (7:45pm) ironically with an ice pac on my low back. I just saw the tag line quick and said hey I know that line. I am usually all over your blog but today I just couldn’t get to it go figure! Yes, I am the queen of modification and I am so appreciative that everyone works with me and they don’t shove me out the front door with a boot in the ass ~ nice knowing ya! So thanks to everyone for that ![]()
It is always a pleasure working out at SCF <3
THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!!
LP. Let me start out by saying happy birthday. My wife Tricia, is an inspiration. She doesn’t take no for an answer, she definitely doesn’t take any shit, she knows what she wants and has a strong desire to achieve her goals. I wish I had her determination. I still read this blog ” most days” and find it VERY inspirational. Thank you for noticing Tricia. It means so much and shows how much the crossfit community is like family.
