Kevin Miller found this GREAT article on The CrossFit Journal about taming your “inner voice” before, during, and after WODs.  Here is a short excerpt:

If everything that passed through your head was said out loud to another CrossFitter, would you be considered a good coach or a bad coach, a motivating coach or a demoralizing coach?

This question is important, because your self-talk is really your own personal coach.

This article provides CONCRETE strategies to teach you to be more positive and increase productivity in your WODs.  It is worth the time you’ll take to read it.  Read it at:

PLEASE BE SURE TO DOCUMENT YOUR POINTS FOR WEEK ONE OF THE PALEO CHALLENGE ON THE WHITEBOARD NEAR THE RESTROOM (37 max points).

If you haven’t noticed, we have added a 10:30 am class to our Saturday schedule.

Check out these pics from the past few WODS:

Hank gives Jacob some new ink...

Rich has only been with us for a few weeks, but has shown huge improvements in flexibility and strength.

Jeff rocked his his first FRAN this week!

Cynthia is determined in the Paleo challenge...watch out!

Lou set a PR on both FGB and FRAN this week...say adios to Louisa!

Hard not to set a PR with all eyes on you!! Great work Adam!

Watch out for this duo...Great work Sarah and Lina!

Ashley R. has "upped her game" as of late by doing her pull-up WODs RX'd and greatly improving her run. Keep up the hustle!

Deb has the same story...her pull-ups have been STELLAR lately and she has been doing all of her weights prescribed. She better tell her MAN to WATCH OUT!

Team, I can't log on to the WH High School site…how about if you post the article, rather than establish the link. May be its just me. But, given Kevin's situation, I am sure a lot of us are going to want to read the article.

Thanks for the heads up Ray. I think I fixed the link. LP and Carb Boy let me know if it's not correct.

Team: Tell Kevin that there is another article in the journal about a trainer who broke his back twice and invented a machine to help his strenthen it, and now at 62 (yes, here I go….) can dead lift 650. Check out this gym… http://www.westside-barbell.com/” rel=”nofollow”>.http://www.westside-barbell.com/ There is a picture of the machine at the bottom. My guess is that it puts weight on a device that allows you to move it while you extend your back doing the extensions like on the GHB device.

Kevin, all the best…and stay away from the bad Carbs buddy.

That would be Louie Simmons with the Reverse Hyper machine. By the way LP and DP are in the video towards the end asking Louie questions.

I didn't realize that you needed a subscription to the journal to read this article. Dy-Lan posted the "preview." If you have access to the journal, read it.

Kevin, Since DP and LP know this guy Louie, who apparently did his back twice….we should be able to get some phone numbers for the guy so you can get a timeline and some information about how he trained to get back to good health. The fact that he injured his back twice would yeild some good stories as well.
