WOD, 3/29/10:

Handstand push ups (head to ground)

Shoulder to overhead (135/95)

As most of you know, there are 3 Shoreliners competing in the Northeast Regionals on May 22nd and 23rd.  While DP, Shlee, and I are battling it out to get to Aromas for the CrossFit World Games, there will also be a competition going on to see which 6 (I believe it is 6, it may be 3) affiliate teams will be going to Aromas to compete for the affiliate cup.  This is going to be equally as awesome a competition, and a TON of fun!  The trainers at SCF have decided that it is fair for those who paid their dues at the sectionals to have an automatic in.  This means that Blanco, McWalters, and Testa are already on the SCF affiliate team (this is a WELL DESERVED honor boys), but that leaves 3 spots open.  We must have 2 females.  I have only heard interest expressed by two females in the gym thus far; however, the male interest has be greater.  So, WHO DO WE PICK????  There is only one way to settle this:

A Shoreline CrossFit Throwdown!

If no other females besides Jenn M and Jess are interested, females need not compete.  We would love to host a good old-fashioned CrossFit competition to see who will fill our final spot.  The competition will take place this Saturday at 12:30.  All are welcome to attend to watch and compete.  It will consists of three WODs.  Scaling any of these three will automatically disqualify the athlete from qualifying for the affiliate team.  PLEASE POST IN COMMENTS IF YOU ARE INTERESTED (ladies too).

  •  Please remember to post your points for week 4 of the Paleo Challenge.
  • If you lost a silver Tiffany’s necklace, please claim it at the front desk

Let’s check out some pics from the last couple days:

Welcome Courtney and Kurt to SCF! Watch out for these two!!!!

Good luck to Jeff on his 2,180 Mile hike from Maine to GA and back! Check out his journey/donate to the cause @ www.hikestrong2010.com

That is ONE determined face!

Welcome Sean (pictured left) to SCF!

That's right T, back to RX'd WODs BABY!!

And now to the pics from our exciting Saturday WOD:

All hands on deck for Saturday's WOD!

My view...

Lou was the only guy on his car-pushing team, but when you have two ladies as strong as Tricia and Stacy, it doesn't matter!

And don’t forget the hard part: The 100+ deadlifts!!!

Ethan says he is in better shape than when he was 21. I didn't know you then buddy, but I believe it!

Rachel not only had perfect deadlift form, but perfect burpees to match!

Phil is DOIN' WORK!

We are so HAPPY to have Jamie back...lookin' good girl!

How was the run yesterday? Is there a possibility of adding some group runs to the schedule? Thanks.

The run was great Stac. There we 9 of us and we ran 5 1/4 miles. We are definitely thinking of making this a weekly thing…endurance Sundays, assuming DP and I have time. Even if we don't, there can be group that meets at the gym.

The Affiliate competition will be held in Albany, NY. Information from Game site Affiliate Cup:

At the Regional level, an Affiliate Team must consist of a minimum of four to a maximum of six athletes. The team needs to have a minimum of two men and two women. All members of the team must actively train at the same facility, which does not have to be an official CrossFit affiliate gym.

At the Regional level, all the workouts will be conducted as team workouts with teams of four. Two men and two women will be competing at one time as a team. This will allow team captains or coaches to substitute members prior to an event based on team members' individual strengths and weaknesses.

There is only one team permitted per gym. We recommend having tryouts and competitions within your affiliate to determine your team of four to six athletes. But that is just a recommendation. The team itself qualifies, which means teams that qualify for the Games can make changes to their roster between the Regionals and the Games.

For teams that qualify for the Games, the rules will be slightly different. One key difference is that all teams must send six athletes, three men and three women, to Aromas. A non-participating coach is still optional.

An equal number of team spots and individual spots are allocated to each Regional. For example, if your Regional allocation for individual spots is 4 men and 4 women, there are 8 team spots allocated. Last year's champs, Northwest CrossFit, are prequalified and invited to the Games in Aromas, July 16-18.

Having competed in Sectionals (and the FGB in Fairfield and Make-a-Wish in Milford) I can promise you there is NOTHING like an organzied competition. Of course, we compete everyday – whether it is with ourselves, someone in the box, the whiteboard, our journals, againts Team B pushing a car down Sycamore Way (go Team A!!), etc – but it is hard to replicate the heart-pounding, cotton mouth, weak-knee feeling you get from the 3-2-1- GO!!! It is euphoric. I highly recommend anyone that is even slightly thinking about competing one day to come out Saturday and give it a go.

Adam and Murph – thanks for stepping up to help Shoreline compete for California… I've already blocked my Saturday afternoon to watch you guys go at it!

    Who else???!!
