A New Coach on the Block…
WOD, 3/15/10:
First: 10 minutes to find your max power clean.
Next: AMRAP in 12 minutes of:
5 thrusters (135/95 lbs)
7 Burpees
Many people come to CrossFit in what they, and the rest of the world, consider “good shape.” And, for the most part, they truly are in descent shape in comparison to much of the latent American society. Then…12 minutes of “Cindy” has them humbled, on their knees (myself included).
Then there’s Allen Blanco…most of you know him. He is a OG (“Original Gangsta”) of the Shoreline. At our grand opening, he was the only person to perform “Fran” prescribed, and completed it in 5.30. IMPRESSIVE! Fitness and athleticism have always been important to Blanco, and he has continued to “bring it” to each and every WOD he performs at The Shoreline.
We are happy to officially announce that Blanco is now a coach at Shoreline CrossFit! As we continue to grow, we need more trainers to coach our athletes at SCF. We cannot be more grateful to have someone of such a top-notch caliber as Blanco. He comes to SCF with a plethora of knowledge in strength/fitness methods and diet. Kelly, DP, Shlee, and I are ecstatic to have him aboard..and you should be too!

Sarah has been showing major gains in her strength lately. She performed her first Rx'd weight WOD on Friday.

Great job Alan, as always, thanks for the support.
Speaking of Sectionals, anyone know if there are there any spectator spots left?

Thanks for the comments guys. It’s really an honor to be a trainer at the Shoreline. I’m really looking forward to coaching along side Coach K, DP, LP and Shlee. The community we have built down on Sycamore Way is unreal and it’s only getting better. SHORELINE REPRESENT!!

Spectator spots are still available and the PRICE HAS JUST BEEN CHANGED!!!
It’s still $50 per spectator, but now you can bring a fiend. So basically, it’s buy one get one free. We need the support so please come down!

Oh and of course…congrats to Allen Blanco. From our standpoint, making Allen a trainer was a no brainer. And yes Ray, Allen is the best!

PS- nice to know the Blanco family snipes the blog now and again. Now we know where Allen got it from! lol

On another note, Kevin Miller is having a hard time eating Paleo at the hospital. In fact, he’s been seen eating “regular” brownies by a few undercover CrossFitters we have employed at Gaylord Hospital. So eventhough he’ll be home in a few weeks and back to eating paleo, I want to keep him fit in the meanwhile.
I’m asking that we collectively make a batch of Paleo treats to replace those brownies he’s been eating and deliver them asap! Can we do this by Friday? Who’s in?

I’d love to help bake paleo treats for Kevin. I have no idea what a paleo treat is, though — where can I find a recipe?

First–congrats to Blanco!
Second–I was wondering if anyone would be interested in training for the Hartford Marathon (or half marathon). The races are on October 9th. Even if you think you can’t run a marathon (or half marathon) by October 9–its totally possible–especially for us CrossFitters!!!
