10 minutes Handstand push-ups
5 minutes Squats
2 minutes Pull-ups
1 minute Push-ups
Russ Greene 359 reps (20lb vest). Josh Everett 357 reps. Post reps to comments.
I am not quite sure who Russ Greene is, but you can bet that her is a CrossFit ROBOT if he beat Josh Everett with a weight vest on!
Burnout…we all experience it. As an educator, I swear the only reason teachers have February vacation is because we could very possibly KILL the next child who stares at me blankly and says, “Miss, I don’t know,” or vomit if I read one more sentence possessing quadruple negatives. Most companies demand that their employees take vacation time to avoid this burnout. Companies that do not, usually have disgruntled, dissatisfied, burnt, employees.
And where are my athletes at???? My soccer, baseball, basketball, hockey, lacrosse, tennis, volleyball, players? You remember the deal: train hard, play hard during the on-season with the promise of a little rest during the off-season.
Guess what? In CrossFit, there is no off-season. We train as hard as any of the aforementioned athletes mentioned above, but we never get a declared time to “turn off” or rest. This is the key to understanding why you may feel burnt from time to time. Our workouts are many time more mentally grueling than they are physically, and doing this day-in and day-out can take a toll on your body and psyche. The constant desire to “be better” to “beat your opponent” may cause you to breakdown.
So, what do you do?
Ask any athlete, you never take the pre and post season and do absolutely nothing, this would set you back when the season begins. But you do get a little rest…time to ‘check-out’ mentally. You may need to do this once in awhile at CrossFit. Physical exercise should be your outlet for stress. If this is not the case, take a week off. RELAX. Chances are, you’ll come back ready to DESTROY a WOD.
Right before Christmas vacation, I begin to question why I ever went into teaching…by January 2nd, I miss being around teenagers. The behaviors that drove me to insanity on December 23rd, I now find “cute” and endearing.
If you need time off, take it. You’ll comeback refreshed and ready to CONQUER.

You must open your hip fully at the top of the squats and get your butt below parallel (the crease of your knees) at the bottom.

Pull-ups must start with your arms locked out, and your chin must get over the bar for the rep to count.
Well LP you are right as usual. This past few weeks I have been pushing it harder than ever for sectionals and to be able to throw that shirt in the ground and I reached a breaking point feeling BURNTOUT both mentally and physicaly. So I took a couple days off and came back feeling great. So its hard to take some time off but VERY IMPORTANT as I now know. So keep the mental coaching coming its good stuff. PEACE OUT
