My first line of business today: New Year’s hours are…
New Year’s Eve: All morning classes (5:30 am, 6:30 am, 9 am) and ONE 4:30 pm class.
New Year’s Day: CLOSED
Secondly, I AM INSTITUTING A NEW RULE AT THE SHORELINE…Remember back to your first day at CrossFit. It can be quite intimidating: shirtless, grunting, freaks dripping sweat with bleeding hands, throwing barbells around. It is soon-to-be January and that means that we are going to be getting some new “resolution” CrossFitters. We are a family (a dysfunctional one…of this I am aware), and we need to extend this warmth to our new members. When you see a new face at the gym, introduce yourself to him/her. If you don’t, FIVE BURPEES for every person in the class who does not. I am not playin’….
Lastly, I know that a few of you have signed up for the Northeast Sectionals for the 2010 CrossFit Games. I am so proud of those of you who have taken on this challenge. Having something to train for is oftentimes the boost we need to take our training to the next level. I know that many of you were disappointed by the cost to compete and spectate in this event. Due to this cost, I know that several of you won’t be able to make it. I HAVE SOME GOOD NEWS….
Jason and Jocelyn Leydon, owners of CrossFit Milford, are opening a new space around the corner from their existing space. To celebrate the grand opening of the new box, Jay has organized a competition. All of the proceeds will go to the Make a Wish Foundation. Make a Wish is a charity that grants terminally ill children their grandest wish. There is a minimum 20 dollar donation to participate, no fee to spectate, and you CAN scale the WODs if necessary. THIS MEANS YOU ALL CAN PARTICIPATE! It is going to be held in Milford on January 9th , 9 a.m @ 49 Research Drive. There is no need to pre-register, come a little early to fill out the appropriate paperwork. If you are registered for the sectionals, this is great practice to see how you handle WODs in a truly competitive setting (also not a bad opportunity to scope out their pull-up bars, GHDs, running course pre-sectionals:+). I am going to compete and I hope to roll down there with a killer group of Shoreliners!
Check out these pics from DP’s WOD today:
