CRAZY ENERGY!
WOD, 09/16/09:
“Patrick”
AMRAP, 20 minutes of:
5 Push Press (115 lbs/75 lbs)
10 Kettlebell Swings (1.5 pood/1 pood)
15 Box Jumps (24 inches)
This WOD is a tribute to the late, great Patrick Swayze, star of every girl born in the late 70′s, early 80′s, favorite movie, Dirty Dancing. Watch out, there may be some dance moves in the warm up. Kelly’s got skillZ…
On another note, the title of my post: “Crazy Energy.” I wish that I could be available at all classes to watch you all workout, but unfortunately, I can’t be there yet. However, Kelly and DP report and tell me that there is “CRAZY ENERGY” in our classes at SCF. I can, however, comment on the classes that I am present to coach. The energy in the 6:30 pm class last night, and the 4:30 pm class today was PHENOMENAL! Seriously, I step back sometimes and just watch…I am in awe that you guys have only been together for ONE MONTH! The support, laughs, and hard work that you guys put forth makes me realize that there is no job like being a CrossFit trainer, especially at the Shoreline!

Every CrossFit should have its very own "Carb Boy" like Kevin. It wouldn't be the same without him!

You'd swear Jen (pictured benching) was an ex-cheerleader! The support she gives to her CrossFit classmates is second-to-none.

The 5:30 class putting a beatin' on "Lynne."

I need some cooking help:) I have cooking issues (i’m sure you have all noticed from my hundreds of questions at the gym) does anyone have suggestions for making plain steamed veggies interesting? or any awesome paleo recipes they have made with ground turkey? Thanks

Jenn….steam cauliflower with whole garlic cloves…but here’s the interesting part…after you steam it…MASH IT…putting it through a ricer(if you have one) is even better…blending it makes it too thin sometimes….it makes a great substitute for mashed potatoes…mix with a little butter and milk(I KNOW I KNOW NO DAIRY…you can not use them too) and black pepper…garnish with chives and bacon(you can leave the bacon out but I mean come on)…if they look too watery put them in an oven safe pan and bake them off at like 350 until consistency is just right.
as for the ground turkey…Turkey meatloaf and mashed cauliflower is good
but for something different I like Turkey Meatballs with my Spaghetti Squash(AWESOME PASTA SUBSTITUTE in my opinion) and Tomato sauce…season the meat with oregano, basil, thyme, garlic powder, onion powder…don’t over mix…and the secret…snag a raisin or two and put it in the middle of each meatball…put them on a cookie sheet and bake them before you put them in the sauce….let me know how it turns out!
you can look here for stuff too…http://paleofood.com/ I haven’t investigated it yet as a reliable recipe source.

wow that was a long post…an addition…if the mashing or ricer makes it still too chunky…go for the blender…it depends on how much/little you cook it for…and that’s all…for now…
