My little, lovie, Hayden can't get enough of working out!

I know that many of our clients have children. I also know that many of you work with children. Those of you that don’t, must someone with a kid. I didn’t receive the “CrossFit Muse” today to blog, so I went to Lisbeth Darsh’s website (www.crossfitwatertown.com) to receive some inspiration. Look what I found:
Imagine growing up with CrossFit.Imagine that you learned from early in your life how to work in all metabolic pathways and maximize your strength, speed, agility, etc. Imagine that you didn’t waste time on hours of exercise that didn’t produce many results. Imagine that you learned to eat right from the beginning. How would your life be different today? And, if you have that chance to give that gift to your kids, why are you not giving it?
Ever go to an amusement park or a pool or a festival? You see all types there. And one of the things you see is that kids will (most of the time) follow in their parent’s footsteps. It’s not rocket science. See a skinny kid and you’re likely to see skinny parents. See an overweight child and you might see overweight parents. Kids eat the food that is put in front of them, and they often imitate the behavior they see around them.
Here’s a fact: We put a large tractor tire in the middle of the Watertown Fall Festival on Saturday. And then we watched what happened to it. Kids were naturally drawn to it. It looked like fun. They jumped on the tire, jumped in the tire, and tried to move it. Ran around it. What did most of the parents do? They sat on the tire. And ate and drank and smoked cigarettes. Whether you like it or not, that’s setting out a future for your kids.
Another fact: We had hundreds of people come up to our booth. The kids picked up the medicine balls and the kettlebells and asked what you do with them. They were also eager to do push-ups or squats to earn a key chain. We gave out dozens of “I Will Not Be Broken” CFW key chains to kids. Out of all the adults, we had exactly two women who agreed to do push-ups. Draw your own conclusions.
Long ago, my mother told me that, in life, I could be part of the problem or part of the solution. There is an obesity epidemic among children in America. Their lives, their futures, our society, and even our economy will be affected by what we do now to help those kids. I choose to be part of the solution. I’m jumping on that tire. What are you choosing to be?
Now, a shout out to my SCF crew:

Our boy Byron, really nailed his kip today & completed the entire workout bandless! There is no going back now!

Congrats to Blanco who got his first muscle up!!!!

Allie, (nailing 'skin the cat' here) has really nailed her form in every movement lately. To see here in today's WOD, was really breathtaking (and I'm not just saying this b/c I love her personality!)

Desi upgraded to a heavier kettlebell...

Shlee managed to cope with my pits (I apologize...I DO NOT know what happened today!)

HAHAHA….Mike…it still isn’t too bad…Few of the WOD’s look awful at first glance. It’s how you feel during them that tends to change your opinion. I like the way this one looks…too bad I’ll be doing something else today…
