You most likely have seen this rant on the wall in our gym, but I am going to post it on the site because I have to erase it to fit your times on the wall:
Why CrossFit and not Globo-Fitness?
1. So, our gym doesn’t look like InShape—packed with treadmills, TVs, and Smith Machines. This is because these tools are unnecessary for results! CrossFit revolves around INTENSE, FUNCTIONAL movements. You will never get results from reading US Weekly on a treadmill (all the while keeping an eye on All my Children on the TV) at a 4.2 speed. And when was the last time you considered a person “fit” that needed a machine to assist them in a squat? Do have machines at home that help you get off of your couch or toilet?
2. The person with the mastery of the MOST skills wins, right? CrossFit’s fitness is, “broad, general, and inclusive.” (crossfit.com) Being a specialist and cool and all, but “combat, survival, many sports, and LIFE reward TOTAL fitness, and punish the specialist.” (crossfit.com)
3. Why do women have to run on treadmills and elliptical machines and men get to lift the weights and rep out the pull-ups? THEY DON’T! Globo Gym Steve may tell you this, but CrossFit will never! CrossFit is UNIVERSALLY SCALABLE…this means everyone from Grandma Mildred to G.I. Joe can do the same workout. “We scale load and intensity; we don’t change programs.” (crossfit.com) Why should Rocky Balboa be fitter and live longer than Soccer Mom Susie?!?
4. When was the last time you busted out some bicep curls that you could say mentally prepared you for life? CrossFit makes us COMFORTABLE with being UNCOMFORTABLE. Let’s face it; from firefighter to receptionist to stay-at-home parent, life is full of problems and discomfort. Learning how to “grin and bear it” through a WOD transfers into everyday living. It promotes CONSTANT SELF-IMPROVEMENT and PROBLEM SOLVING SKILLS (ask a any CrossFitter if he/she is satisfied with his/her FRAN time).
5. Has anyone at your globo-gym ever stood around and cheered you on as you muscled through your final rep in a lat. pull-down, or squeezed out another movement on the “butt-blaster?” CrossFit is COMMUNITY. It creates a family. It is your SPORT. Who’s your team, you may ask. Any other CrossFitter WORLDWIDE. Just ask Icelandic Annie Thorisdottir of the 2009 CrossFit games, who performed her first muscle-up EVER, while thousands of fellow CrossFitters cheered, cried, and pushed her on.
THERE IS NO QUESTION!
CrossFit will make you proficient in ALL 10 fitness domains: strength, speed, accuracy, agility, balance, coordination, cardio-vascular, flexibility, speed, & power. I never got this at my globo-gym…

Damn, my rest day went by fast. I am confident i can do 3 rounds of helen after doing 5 rounds of kelly. But then again i never used kettlebells before.
